A variety of templates will be available and it’s aimed at retail, e-commerce and DTC brands with a product catalogue uploaded to the platform. Product details such as price or availability are automatically updated.

One advertiser with early access to this format reported a 66% decrease in cost per purchase and 286% increase in ROAS compared to a retargeting campaign that was running simultaneously.

At the moment, the beta form is available to all advertisers reaching out to US users. Want to get in on the act? Just contact the Snapchat team to be part of the beta testing.

GOOGLE

Conversions by time

This is an important update for Google Ads marketers.

Why? Because it changes the way that conversions are measured and reported.

New columns in reports allow advertisers to report conversions by the actual day they occurred.

Previously, Google reported conversions based on the date an ad was clicked. This meant that even if the actual conversion didn’t happen on this day, it would be reported as a conversion on the day the ad was clicked.

”Starting today, you can report conversions and conversion values at the time they happened with new “by conversion time” columns.

This means that if your ad was clicked on last week and that traffic converted this week, the new “Conversions (by conv. time)” column will now show a conversion for this week.”

The following six reporting columns are now available by conversion time:

  • Conversions
  • Conversion value
  • Value / Conversion
  • All conversion
  • All conversion value
  • Value / All conversion

This update will allow advertisers to compare reports and confirm how many products were sold in any given time period.

FACEBOOK

Ad delivery fine-tuning, Groups and Search Ads coming

A lotta updates coming your way from Facebook, fellow marketers. Get ready to handle them!

+ Ad Keywords

Joshua Bretag shared some updates regarding Ad Keywords that came from his Rep. What are these about?

Ad Keywords allow you to better guide the delivery of your ads by using keywords that describe what you are advertising.

Facebook’s example: If you add Ad Keywords such as Oculus Rift, virtual reality or augmented reality glasses, a person who took the following actions would likely be prioritized to receive your ad:

  • Visited the Oculus Rift web page.
  • Joined a Facebook group about virtual reality.
  • Watched a video about augmented reality glasses.
  • Off-Facebook activities that involved the keywords you loaded.

Sweet! Instead of telling Facebook about the audience you’re looking for, you tell the ad algo what you’re trying to sell and it will do the work for you!

Moreover, Joshua Bretag got a 20% reduction in CPA and a 30% increase in ROAS on Audience network using Ad Keywords.

+ Ads in the Groups tab

It is also testing a new ad placement: Groups Feed Ads. Yeah… You can place ads in the Groups tab. This will work the same as the Newsfeed placement, offering the same targeting options and creatives.

This isn’t exactly unexpected, considering FB’s determination to monetize every square millimetre of space and attention. Let’s wait for this one to be rolled out globally.

+ Search Ads

A new placement is being tested, and another new one is coming your way too! We are talking about Facebook Search Results Ads.

The placement, which includes general search and Marketplace search, will deliver contextually relevant ads for a limited set of English and Spanish search terms.

So, for the moment, Facebook will try to show the most relevant ads based on the search terms, but this function still has a limited capacity.

FAST FIVE

  • MARKETING: Podcasts are going to be a $1B market by 2021. Enter PodScribe, which uses speech-to-text transcription tech to analyze the content of a podcast. This allows advertisers to target podcasts based on keywords, concepts, topics and interests.
  • E-COMMERCE: Looking to sell POD in Brazil? Check out Nick Peroni’s file, which contains a targeting help guide, Portuguese copies and mockup files for both men and women.
  • YOUTUBE: YouTube has worked with many third-party trackers for their Ads Data Hub. However, by early 2020 it will no longer allow advertisers to use third-party pixels on YouTube.
  • FACEBOOK: Here’s all you need to know from Zucc’s recent speech about political ads, free speech, and China.
  • SEO: What do you find when you do a technical SEO audit of 100+ sites? Over 80% of sites are negatively affected by internal redirected URLs, a lack of internal linking, redirected or broken external links and more. A great read!

POOLSIDE CHAT

Cool tech, (funny) business, lifestyle and all the other things affiliates like to chat about while sipping cocktails by the pool.

Hey 😉 What about some Netflix and chi…cken?

article-image

Right at the start of your digital marketing journey, you probably heard a sentence that still resonates deep within you. This sentence probably still drives you daily actions:

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Find what is already working for others, and adapt it to work for you.

Yes! It doesn’t matter whether it’s about ads, funnels or products.

We are quite sure you still believe in this credo. After all, spy tools exist for a reason.

This isn’t a new ethos either – guess who else applied it? KFC!

No… They’re not ripping your ads… But they did copy Netflix’s business model. It makes sense, given it’s something that works. But wait. Back up a minute… They sell fried chicken not episodes of Breaking Bad and Narcos…

What are they doing? KFC is offering a subscription that gets you 48 made-to-order Kentucky Fried Wings delivered straight to your doorstep, every week for 10 weeks.

This looks like a nice treat for the weekend: How does binge-watching Stranger Things while binge-eating chicken wings sound?

That would be the perfect autumnal Sunday, right? At this point, all we need now is a Heineken or Coca Cola subscription…
