Beware of these scam messages: It’s not from FB Support

Aight, good fellas! Something was brought to our attention by Depesh Mandalia and we thought it was important to let you all know about it.

Apparently, some advertisers are receiving messages from what appears to be FB’s Risk Assessment team informing marketers about the status of their Facebook Page.

However, upon close observation, it was found that these messages are not originating from FB. Instead, they are a rather stupid attempt to capture the login details of the Page owners.

If you have received or receive a similar message, DO NOT RESPOND.

You will also notice that the URL of these pages have a domain extension, which is not something FB uses for their Support communications.

We agree with Depesh when he says that if you’re ever in doubt about something, double-check it with other marketers you know.


TWITTER

Premium placements are now open on Twitter

How many of you are using Twitter? Hmmm, not sure we’re seeing too many hands in the air there. However, if you do use it or are planning to do so, here’s something new for you.

They are launching a new takeover format called the Promoted Trend Spotlight.

What does it do? This new format allows you to take up premium placements in the top section of Twitter’s Explore tab.

How does it work? Just like Promoted Trends, which show up as 24-hour takeovers on the Trends list, these Promoted Trend Spotlight supports 6-second videos, GIFs and static images.

The creative appears at the top of the Explore tab for the first two visits per user per day. Once it’s been viewed twice, the placement then moves to the standard ‘Promoted Trend’ placement and organic editorial content gets pushed back into the Spotlight placement.

The placement and messaging can be further optimized by switching up the creative throughout the day.

This new format is currently available to all advertisers in the US, UK, and Japan on both mobile and desktop. In the coming months, it will extend to 12 additional markets, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, and Thailand.

The solid account foundation to avoid roller coaster performances

A recent post shared by Josh Graham talks about the foundation pillars needed for an ad account to produce steady and consistent results from your FB campaigns. Let’s head to these tips and see what’s in the pot.

Pillar #1: Proper account structure

You need to target these four key audiences to have a solid foundation:

  1. Top of the funnel audiences.
  2. Middle of the funnel audiences.
  3. Bottom of the funnel audiences.
  4. Existing customers.

Moreover, in the TOF, you should run these two kinds of campaigns:

  • Testing campaign: To find the working creatives and audiences. Here you should use a daily budget of $20/ad set.
  • Scaling campaign: In this campaign, you duplicate the best performing ad sets of the previous one and raise the budget to a minimum of $40/ad set.

Pillar #2: Automated rules

Automated rules are a way to avoid overspending on losers and to make sure you don’t miss out on the campaigns with growth potential. Anyway, Josh suggests using rules only on scaling campaigns and to rely on Facebook native rules.

He usually sets up these three rules:

  • Stop loss: Turn off ad sets that aren’t converting.
  • Delayed: Turn ad sets that were shut down back on again because of delayed attribution.
  • Midnight Reset: Restart any ad set or ad that was turned off.

Pillar #3: Don’t only look at ROAS

This is all about not focusing solely on ROAS, because there are many more metrics that can give you a lot of insight into your funnel and potential improvements. These are the KPIs Josh aims for:

  • Outbound Click → Landing Page View: 80 percent.
  • Landing Page View → Content View: 50 percent.
  • Content View → Add To Cart: 10-15 percent.
  • Add to Cart → Initiate Checkout: 25 percent.
  • Initiate Checkout → Purchase: 50-75 percent.

Remember that these KPIs are based on the fact that he deals with USA traffic and hits an AOV of $60 for his conversions.

    SEO: There is a bug going on in Google’s URL parameter tool, so the data you see there might not be accurate at the moment. Google is working to fix this.

Attendees include the likes of Amazon, Facebook and Samsung, and many more tech companies will be there too. So, let’s have a look at some of the concepts revealed at the show:

  • Samsung’s Neon project: The company is working on creating video chatbots that will behave like humans. The ultimate goal is to have realistic digital humans that can act as teachers, health care advisers and assistants. Black Mirror alert here…
  • PlayStation 5: Wow, say hello to procrastination! Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5. Ready for some FIFA tournaments?
  • Charmin Rollbot: This robot was built with one goal in mind: To bring toilet paper to your white throne in those emergency cases! We’re pretty sure Leonardo Da Vinci would be proud to see how human inventions have evolved over time.
  • Inupathy dog harness: Do you want to know what your best friend has in mind? Inupathu promises to let your dog tell you how he’s feeling. The harness can measure your pet’s heart rate and uses that information to let you know if your dog is relaxed, excited, happy, interested or stressed. We can already see your anime eyes when you discover your dog’s emotions for the first time.
