Ads Manager warning: Unwanted campaigns launched. Take Info & Ads spying one step further. WhatsApp payments are coming
Check your FB Ad accounts, because what happened to this guy is very worrying. FB to launch WhatsApp payments. How to find the stats of your competitor ads using Info & Ads
Ads Manager hacked
This is the first time we have heard about something like this, but it’s pretty alarming nonetheless.
A screenshot was shared with The Crew which showed a guy, Yavaar Nosimohomed, complaining about mysterious and unwanted campaigns appearing in his Ads Manager.
He didn’t create those ads, he never launched those campaigns, but suddenly he found them running in his Ads Manager. Spending his hard earned cash.
But the problems don’t stop there: Understandably Yavaar keeps turning these campaigns off, but the next morning he finds them up and running once again. Some campaigns have 10 ad sets, and $400 budgets.
At this point, Yavaar tried everything he could to solve the problem:
He changed the passwords and set a limit lifetime budget, but the campaigns keep resurfacing. At the time of writing, he has lost $173 and still hasn’t been able to find a solution or reach the FB support team to fix the problem.
In the comments on the post, people are speculating about the possibility that somebody has API access to his FB account via an app he installed.
However, after looking in the Partners section, Yavaar didn’t find anything strange.
We have no idea what could have caused this. Do you? You can join the discussion on this post, and hopefully you can help poor Yavaar out.
Even if you don’t have the answers, we should all treat this story as a warning, especially if you have more than one ad account and you don’t check them frequently.
There are people out there with bad intentions hacking FB Ad accounts, and you certainly don’t want to get caught up in the same situation as Yavaar.
Find your competitor ads’ engagement using Info & Ads
Ever since the launch of the “Info & Ads” section for all FB Pages, it has been one of our go-to methods of getting a quick sneak peek into our competitors’ creatives.
But we’re always on the lookout for more! We want to see the engagement; the social proof on these competitor ads to see how they’re performing. That’s not possible though, right?
Jaime Harmon came across a simple trick that allows you to see the engagement stats on these ads, and she’s been kind enough to share it with the community.
Here are the steps:
- Go to a brand page on the Facebook mobile app
- Click on the “i” in the upper right corner
- Click the second tab for “Active Ads”
- Click on the text of the ad, and it will open the real ad
PS: We are aware that many of you have been unable to find the “Info & Ads” section over the last few days. As we discussed yesterday, this is just a bug, probably caused by the rollout of a new update. This should hopefully be fixed within a few days.
Alternatively, you can go to the “Page Transparency” section, where you will find all the Active and Inactive Ads. However, we aren’t sure this hack will work there.
We’re sure the rest of you are already on your way over to your mobile app to try out these steps. If you’ve got any questions, Jamie is happy to take them on her post here.
WhatsApp to release mobile payments
Facebook is in the process of hiring hundreds of people at their London office to develop the new WhatsApp mobile payment feature.
As per Mark Zuckerberg’s speech at F8, WhatsApp payments will roll out in different countries in 2019, following the initial trial in India.
WhatsApp doesn’t allow FB to gather much data due to the end-to-end encryption of messages on the platform. Therefore, mobile payments are a great way for FB to monetize the 1.5B users of the messaging app.
“I believe it should be as easy to send money to someone as it is to send a photo” said Mark Zuckerberg.
Well, this is another arrow shot towards PayPal, Stripe etc. What will they come up with to challenge the rise of Facebook in this sector?
Let’s wait and see. First, they will be on the lookout for signs that FB’s project has been a success.
The official @shop account on Instagram
Instagram launched a new account that curates shoppable posts from across the app.
At the time of the launch, the account had around 15 posts with featured products from brands like Feel jeans, Cafuné, The Lip and a few others.
Every product featured on @shop includes product tags, which take users to product pages on the app where they can find the price and a link to purchase the product.
“Content featured on @shop will be 100% community-trends driven. The team managing @shop will work with the Community Labs team at Instagram to identify trends, brands and creators that are of interest to our community so the account will be a real-time indicator of what’s new and emerging on Instagram”.
Brands and content creators won’t have any control whatsoever over which products get featured on @shop.
However, if your products are popular with Instagram users then they will have a much better chance of being featured, which will undoubtedly give your e-commerce an additional boost.
Well, the @shop is now open.

IAB releases annual Internet Advertising Revenue Report
As per IAB’s latest advertising revenue report, digital ad revenue in the US topped $100B for the first time ever in 2018.
In fact, it reached a whopping $107.5B last year, up from $88.3B in 2017 – A growth rate of 22%.
Mobile advertising revenues grew by 39.7%, increasing its share of the total revenue from 56.7% in 2017 to 65.1% in 2018.
It is expected to surpass all forms of traditional advertising spends in 2019. Give yourself a pat on the back!
So, what are the major factors responsible for this growth?
Ad giants – Access to more sophisticated data, machine learning and AI capabilities. Large scale ad companies are driving the bulk of the growth.
However, small businesses are also taking their piece of the pie by forming strategic partnerships with larger enterprises.
Storytelling – Consumers are turning to social media to share their purchasing behaviours, and brands are leveraging this more than ever to turn raw engagements into meaningful conversations.
Social commerce – Demand-side platforms (DSPs) have been constantly innovating, releasing new tools to make the customer buying process easier than ever before while also collecting deeper targeting insights for advertisers.
As a result, advertisers can’t help but spend more to take advantage of the social inventories with greater confidence.
Programmatic – Programmatic ad revenue accounted for 80% of all digital display revenues. More intelligent targeting and greater cost benefits.
Data Regulations – GDPR and CCPA have tipped the balance of power in favour of enterprise-level advertisers. As per the data, such privacy regulations have resulted in innovative targeting strategies aimed at growing ROAS.
“Advertisers are placing a premium on mobile and video, and in turn the two are fueling the ongoing rise of digital marketing, Impending 5G access to faster internet speeds will work to stimulate even more buying interactions and greater innovation in digital formats”. – Sue Hogan, SVP at IAB

A thorough guide on Snapchat Ads
The buzz around Snapchat Ads has been pretty big. Whether you promote CPA offers or your own products, Snapchat certainly seems like the place to be in 2019, and even more so if millenials are your target audience.
It’s way smaller than FB, but 186M daily active users is still plenty of traffic for you to target and scale.
We’ve already talked a lot about Snapchat and why it could work for affiliate offers.
We even hosted Van Oakes, who is getting great results with Snapchat Ads, on our Stacked Marketing Show. So, if you want to have a complete picture of Snapchat’s current situation, Van Oakes’s interview would help you.
However, if you still haven’t tried it and you want to test the waters, we found a step by step guide that covers the whole process of launching a Snapchat campaign from start to finish.
Everything from creating an account to installing the pixel is covered.
You don’t even have to worry if trying new traffic sources is out of your comfort zone. If you run FB campaigns, it’s actually very easy for you to launch a Snapchat campaign.
The ad platform is quite similar to the Facebook one, so you’ll get familiar with it very quickly.
Now you know how to launch it, you know what experts have to say about Snapchat, it’s just up to you to take action! Have a good SnapROAS!
Compilation of 162 Google Ads scripts
If you aren’t using scripts to automate the bulk of your routine and mundane tasks on Google, you’re probably sick to death of dealing with them. That’s not how things need to be though… There is a better way!
Scripts make the whole process more efficient, and your budgets feel the benefit too. Simply put, scripts allow you to get every last bit of juice out of every single penny you spend.
For your convenience, Clicteq have compiled a list of updated scripts all in one place, so you can start implementing them right away rather than wasting time looking for them.
There are around 162 Google Ads scripts listed here.
Obviously this is far too much for us to summarize here, so head over to the article, go through the scripts, and start using the ones relevant to your accounts. There’s no excuse not to!
The websites you should avoid to not get your CC skimmed
Yesterday we reported about an ongoing hacker attack that involved more than 100 e-commerce websites.
We did a bit more digging on the subject and found a list of the websites that the researchers are investigating. We’re guessing you don’t want your CC info to be hijacked, so make sure you avoid the websites listed in this article.
Cool tech, (funny) business, lifestyle and all the other things affiliates like to chat about while sipping cocktails by the pool.
Ultimate shopping experience
Stop your campaigns, sit up, and take note right now! If you’re only targeting one species, you’re leaving a lot of benjies on the table!
Take a look at this. There is an online store out there that allows dogs to purchase stuff on the web.
The online store uses facial recognition and artificial intelligence to add items to the shopping cart.
It tracks how the dog reacts when they see a toy on the display, and if that facial expression is positive it will add that toy to the cart. If it’s less positive, it will show the good boy another toy!
This piece of news is very promising. Currently, there’s only one store out there that allows dogs to go shopping, but if this spreads around the world we have a totally new, unsaturated audience to sell to!
Millions of dogs are out there, waiting to buy something (using their owners’ wallet).
Let’s all look forward to being able to launch dog-focused campaigns!
Time to take your copywriting skills to an animalistic level!
